Are there any special parts or wiring that are required
to retrofit an LED beacon into an existing incandescent
system?
Answer.
Each D164 beacon is provided with 30' of wire. Each
individual situation will dictate the connection to
your existing lighting system. For steady burn applications
these lights can be wired direct to the power source
of no monitoring is required.
Q. Can rain, snow or other
contaminants enter into the beacon and adversely affect
the performance of the LED’s or the fixture?
Answer.
No, The beacon is sealed to prevent the intrusion of
moisture and airborne contaminants into critical areas.
The power supplies are hermetically potted for the same
reason. The beacon has been designed for these types
of application in which it is exposed to harsh environments.
Q.
How do I retrofit my existing medium intensity system
to an LED system?
Answer.
Generally, one can simply remove and replace the incandescent
fixtures with the Dialight LED fixtures. The Dialight
fixtures have been designed for a “plug and play”
installation utilizing the existing incandescent fixture
mounting brackets and wiring. However, each installation
may require some modifications of the tower and/or the
electronic monitoring system.
Q. How do you re-lamp the
beacon?
Answer.
The beacon has a replaceable LED light engine. Specific
instructions for the replacement of this module are
covered in our installation manual.(available on request)
Basically you raise the outer cover, unplug the module,
remove and plug in the new module, re-secure the module
and lower and re-secure the outer cover.
